Doug retired as an US Army Colonel and has over 30 years of operational and business experience in defense and security areas. Doug founded GarryOwen LLC in 2014, providing expert business development and subject matter expert support to commercial companies engaged in the defense sector. He joined Soucy Defense in June 2016 as US defense business development director, his current focus is expanding US defense and related opportunities for Soucy Defense Group. In addition, he works with charitable and fraternal organizations such as TAPS, the Knights of Columbus, and Veterans Service Organizations, supporting our veterans and their families. He serves on several boards of directors for several defense related nonprofit organizations focused on the US Army.
He holds a Master of Science from the National Defense University; a Master of Military Art and Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, School of Advanced Military Studies; a Master of Arts from Webster University; and he is a 1982 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree.
His Awards and Decorations include the Finnish Distinguished Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (w/1 Star), Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (With V device and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (With 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star (With V device and an Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Legion of Merit.
